Sheffield PureGym Move Creates Uproar from Sheffield Women

A petition has been launched by a “devastated” woman after PureGym Sheffield announced that it was moving from Spital Hill to Meadowhall.

This move has sparked anger from local female residents who argue that it was the only accessible gym in the area that made them feel “very safe”.

Aamniah Parveen, who set up the petition said: “This is very disheartening as the Sheffield North branch is located centrally and for many people their closest and most accessible gym operating 24 hours and providing a women’s only section, which most other gyms do not provide. As a result of closing down, this will negatively impact the local community.”

The new PureGym will open in early 2023, at least a month after Spital Hill’s closure on the 5th of December.

This leaves female residents like Aamniah wondering where they will work out in the meantime and whether this new facility will be as much of a safe space for women.
