Sheffield’s own Ellie Roebuck, who plays for the England Lionesses, will be lighting up Sheffield this Sunday at the annual Christmas Lights Switch On.
Ellie is the current England and Manchester City goalkeeper who lept to fame following the Women’s Euros this summer.
Ellie said: “Sheffield is my home, where my journey began, and I’m so proud that the city played such a big part of our Women’s EURO story this summer. Just as Sheffield showed up for us and lit up that experience with your amazing support, I can’t wait to light up our city, and to kick off the Christmas celebrations with you all.”
She will join Lord Mayor Sioned Mair Richards for the countdown at 6pm after an afternoon of festive entertainment, live music and dancing.
After the lights are switched on, fireworks will be set off and the Christmas Market, bars and rides will remain open into the night.
